vienna {6 months}
Beautiful miss ViennaΒ has sure grown since I saw her last during her newborn session! She is now just over 6 months old and was looking as adorable as ever in her glamorous little outfits. And look at those gorgeous big blue eyes! Wow.
The whole family came over for yet another fun shoot. It’s cute to see the difference in personalities of the two siblings already. Vienna is just so chill, and Kyren still has the energy I remember him having during the first shoot. I’m sure it won’t be long before Vienna catches up to her brother’s curious ways. π I’m excited to see Vienna and the family again for her 1 year photos!
thanksgiving gathering {family}
The day after Thanksgiving, I had a wonderful time capturing a family of 25! How fun is it to have all 13 cousins together? A must-have captured moment. They ranged in age from 1-22 and were all so cute/beautiful/adorable looking. And, SO well-behaved! At the end of the shoot, they apologized for the chaos, but I thanked them for how organized and smoothly it went. With the weather being so chilly, we had everyone take shifts of warming up in their house, and then quickly running outside for their photos. My hands are still a little frozen from the day, and I’ve realized that I need to nerd out and buy some of those gloves that flip open at the fingers — you know what I’m talking about. π Anyways, here are a few fun moments from the day! Such an energetic and fun family!
Big Red Barn {family}
One of the first weddings that I shot took place at the Big Red Barn in Bennington, so I was excited when my friend, Bj, contacted me about having a family shoot there. They wanted something that felt “Nebraskan”, and the Big Red Barn definitely is that. His sister’s family came down from Minnesota and brought their adorable daughter, Ava. Having not met “Santa” yet, they decided to have him come for a surprise visit. It was cute to watch Ava’s reaction, she was just kind of indifferent, but lit up when a box of raisins was presented. π Here’s a sneak peek at their rustic barn family shoot!
robin & eric {engaged}
Lake Zorinsky has been a nice location for some recent shoots. Normally, I don’t recall the grass being so green this time of year, so having that plus the awesome leaf colors was just perfect. This time, I met up with Robin and Eric for their engagement photos! Such a cute couple they are. They were awesome at not showing how cold it actually was. The wind was pretty crazy/chilly, but they were all smiles the whole time! We even attempted holding an umbrella for a few shots.. and well…that failed as it flipped inside out. Oh well, they didn’t need many props, just each other, and, the adorable signs shown towards the end of the shoot held by Robin’s niece and nephew. Such a fun idea! I am very excited to be a part of Robin and Eric’s wedding next year!
kelly & paulie {engaged}
Kelly and Paulie are one of those couples whom upon meeting for the first time, you feel like you’ve known them forever. I was excited for their engagement shoot right away as they came to me with a few ideas.. one including Paulie’s Harley. Since he proposed to Kelly while on a motorcycle ride (while stopped of course!), it was only fitting to include a few shots with it. I love that they have that “biker look” (don’t judge me for using that term… ha);), yet, have such a sweet personality. They were not afraid to show their love/closeness to one another, but also had such a good sense of humor. Many laughs were had that day. We started off near the old grain elevators near I80 and 35th St, and although a little…. umm… smelly…. it was such a cool location! Very fitting for what they were looking for. I had a great time with these two and am so excited for their wedding next year!! If it’s anything like their engagement session, it will be equally as fun.
schmidt {family}
It was so nice to see the Schmidt’s again for another shoot! (First session shown here.) The kids seem to have already grown/matured so much, and this time they have a new addition to the family — little Drew was born a week before my daughter, so he is 6 months old as well! It was fun to see the whole family in an outdoor environment as it allowed the kids to just run around and be themselves. They still had the same amount of energy, just with a lot more space to show it!Β Thankfully the weather cooperated long enough for us to get some great shots. Enjoy a sneak peek at their fun-filled family shoot. π
natalie ann {6 months}
I never knew that someone so small could bring so much joy to our lives! Our baby girl is 6 months old today! It is such a fun age as there is (less) crying, and, we are able to play with her a little more. Granted, she won’t be throwing/catching a ball or anything anytime soon, she is definitely letting us know what is fun for her. I absolutely adore her bubbly little personality, and her blue eyes still captivate me — I could have a staring contest with her all day. She is becoming more beautiful everyday, both on the inside and out. She is also cutting her first tooth this week! I think it’s about time for some life-sized human food. π We can’t wait to see the many changes that will happen in the second half of her first year!
jenny & paul {engaged}
I was super excited when Jenny and Paul came to me asking if I’d photograph their wedding next year. Jenny is the sister of Mike, who’s wedding is one of the very first that I shot on my own! (shown here). She also knows the “group” that I’ve become so fond of since I’ve been shooting a lot of their weddings/babies/kids/puppies (wait…no puppies… yet. π So, in meeting Jenny and Paul for their engagement session, I saw that same sweetness with this couple that I have seen with so many of the others. Have I mentioned how awesome all my clients are? π
Anyways, I had a wonderful time with these two! Despite it being a bit windy and more on the cool side, we still got some awesome shots — even with some wind-blown hair. It was so sweet when Paul would occasionally brush Jenny’s hair away from her face or tuck it behind her ear. Even just seeing them together for the first time, I can tell that these two are so right for each other. I am so happy for them and excited for their wedding!
caitlin & adam {engaged}
Caitlin & Adam met on a hay rack ride, so having their engagement photos taken out in the country was the perfect location for these two. It was such a beautiful fall evening and the lighting was amazing — look at how Caitlin’s eyes pop! Wow. It was a very romantic setting, even when the horses decided to stop in for a few shots. π Starting off in all red, what better way to show support for your football team than including a few shots with your adorable dog wearing a Husker sweater? π So cute. I enjoyed meeting these two and am already looking forward to their wedding next year at A View in Fontenelle Hills! Congrats to Caitlin and Adam on your engagement!!
amanda & justin {married}
Amanda & Justin were married last weekend at the Bellevue Berry Farm. The details of this wedding were amazing. And, they did it all themselves! From the handpicked wildflowers on all the tables to the flower girl’s adorable tutu! From the small stenciling on the candy table to the large letters wound with yarn. Wow. I was in awe the whole time and have added Amanda to the (small) list of people I recommend becoming a party planner. π It was such a fun day, and Amanda and Justin looked absolutely amazing. Despite it being incredibly cold and having a few bumps on the technology side, they sailed through the day with all smiles and embraced this time with family and friends. To those that could not be there that day, I know they were watching over this beautiful couple and dancing right along the side of them. Congrats to the newlyweds ~ I wish you a lifetime of happiness and love!
[Thank you so much to the talented miss Amanda Kohler for helping second shoot!]
jillian & mark {engaged}
Last weekend I had the opportunity to spend some time with two people who have become really good friends over the last few years. I was so happy when Jillian and Mark (finally! ;)) got engaged, and even happier when they asked me to photograph their big day. I am already so excited for their wedding as it’s going to be at a vineyard that looks absolutely gorgeous. During their engagement shoot, they were so natural with one another, so it was easy to capture some sweet moments. They are amazing individuals and even more amazing together as a couple. I enjoyed capturing them express their love, as well as rivalry shown at the end of the shoot. Again, sorry Mark for the Raiders loss! π
Enjoy a sneak peek of their session!
genna & dave {married}
Ever since their engagement session (shown here), I was very much looking forward to Genna & Dave’s wedding. The two looked absolutely stunning, just as they did during their engagement shoot. Taking place in Genna’s hometown of Harlan, IA, it had such a perfect balance of small town fun, yet was glamorous and elegant. There was also a wonderful balance of emotions… from tons of laughs to many tears. I have to admit that, while editing these photos, one in particular actually made ME tear up! Don’t miss one of Genna dancing with her dad. Although I had no idea what was being said between the two, the emotions just spoke volumes. This type of closeness was shown throughout the day with all of the families. I am so happy to have been a part of it all and am excited to share how their beautiful day unfolded!
katharine & geoffrey {married}
Katharine & Geoffrey were married this last weekend on a beautiful day here in Omaha. The ceremony took place at First Covenant Church and the reception at the Omaha Press Club downtown. I was so happy to be a part of this couple’s beautiful day. Since they currently reside in Minneapolis, I had only met Katharine once prior to the wedding and Geoffrey on the actual day. Even still, I felt comfortable with them immediately (hopefully this was mutual! π — as they are such a genuine, fun and loving couple. They both looked absolutely amazing, and the details of the day were very thought out. Have I mentioned how much I love the color combo? All around gorgeous! Here’s a peek at how their day unfolded.
riley {2 years}
The energy that a 2 year old exerts sometimes makes me feel lazy. π Even though it was getting towards the end of the day, Riley certainly had that energy, and I’m pretty sure that she smiled the whole time! I think it’s best to just let kids be kids and capture them in those prime moments. Hopefully I did just that and she can look back at them years down the road and see what an adorable, fun and goofy kid she was. Thank you Lori, Randy and Riley for the opportunity to photograph your family!
jack {2 years}
It’s always fun having the Treiber family over for a shoot. This time, Jack turned 2 years old! He is certainly growing up fast — becoming more handsome everyday, and he definitely knows how to show his charm….he decided make a move on my daughter (4.5 mos) and gave her her first “kiss” upon meeting her! haha… it was adorable, and her father and I approved. π Aside from that romantic moment, Jack was his usual energetic self, full of curiosity. His curly hair totally gives him that modelesque look, as well as his various poses. Oh, and he definitely likes his cookies. How could we get through a shoot without them? π
Happy 2nd birthday to the Jack Attack!!
amanda + justin {engaged}
Amanda and Justin have known each other/been dating for many, many years, so, although they just got engaged this last spring, they were well-prepared (anxious;) to get married right away this coming fall. Even though their wedding is just over a monthΒ from now, they still wanted engagement photos, and I fully agreed to the idea. After all, what better time is there to take a bunch of fun/romantic/quirky [non-stressed out] photos together showing who you are as a couple? The wedding day is wonderful of course, but engagement photos show you in such a relaxed manner… so, getting to our shoot this last Tuesday… I had so much fun with this couple! We met at Bayliss Park in Council Bluffs, and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised that there was such a beautiful location over there! Not only that, there were fun, old buildings for backdrops and a park that had a view of downtown Omaha. I think the best part of the day was when they decided to kick off their shoes and hop into the water fountain to cool off! Oh, and another highlight was asking some boys if they could scooch over a little for a sec so I could get a pulled back shot of this fabulous arch, and well, they decided to step in and smile for the photo. π It was cute.
I am very excited for their wedding coming up this fall! Enjoy a sneak peek from their engagement session.
margarita party {2012}
There are a few people that I know whom I’ve told should be a party planner — one of them being my mother-in-law. Every year, she and her lunch group, also known as the “Lucky 7” have a margarita party. I’ve never really asked how it turned into a margarita one, but my guess is that it’s Rose’s absolute favorite drink, and, what’s more fun than being surrounded by tropical goodness? (Is that a word… ? ) π I’m pretty sure the day after the party ends, she starts planning for the next year’s event! She really does get down to the details…. so, I thought I’d share how fun this party is with just some of the details. They are even being featured in their neighborhood newsletter this time around!
For those of you that I’ve told should make a business out of party planning… get to it! I’d hire ya. π
koch’s {family}
It was a pleasure to meet with the Koch’s, a sweet family of three, for a photo session in Elmwood Park. Lexi is an adorable little lady. Although shy around the camera, she liked to see the photo displayed on the screen afterwards, and that was enough of an incentive to smile. **A photographer’s trick for most little kids. π She also overflowed with excitement when her grandma and grandpa showed up for a few photos as well. Seeing her run to them was just too sweet. Meghan and Tony made their way up from Nebraska City for the shoot, and are soon making a move to Kearney. I wish them all the best as they approach a new chapter in their lives!
emily {1st birthday party}
After doing a pre-birthday shoot with Emily shown here, I enjoyed celebrating and taking photos of her birthday party surrounded by friends and family. Taking place at Maria’s restaurant in Ralston, it was a perfect place to gather around and watch miss Emily do another cake smash! I think she is really starting to become a pro with that. π There was of course pink, pink and more pink to be seen everywhere, as it was definitely a party for a sweet little girl. She is no doubt growing up to be a beautiful little lady, and I’m so excited that she, Brad and Jen will be moving into our neighborhood soon! I’m sure many play dates will be had. π
Enjoy a peek at Emily’s 1st birthday celebration!
miles {1 year}
Miles is one! It has been a lot of fun capturing this little guy throughout his first year.
—> 3 months
—> 7 months
Instead of crawling towards my camera out of curiosity, he now seems the least bit interested in it… but rather, like most one year olds, is so curious about the world around him and wants to explore it — by walking! We had a successful cake smash, and, he really stayed rather clean. We also survived the 100+ degree heat and got a few lovely family shots outside.
**Thank you once again, Mary, Kyle and Miles, for coming to my place for the shoot! I hope you had a wonderful 1st birthday party!!! I am also really looking forward to doing your engagement and wedding photos! π
emily {1 year}
Before miss Emily turns one this week, we had a pre-birthday party shoot. With so many fun props involved, it actually felt like her real birthday. There was everything from a party hat, a wand (yes, a WAND), and a cake to smash. I think that the adults may have had a little more fun at times just watching it all. π This year has flown by, and I’m so glad I’ve been a part of seeing Emily’s milestones, as well as capturing them through photographs. Can’t wait to celebrate her actual birthday soon!
lindsey {6 months}
I still can’t get over how quickly children change in their first year. Lindsey is already 6 months and she has changed so much since our first newborn session together. –> newborn
She is no longer the little human we can mold into certain poses and who sleeps through the whole session. She now has an adorable little personality and definitely tells you when she needs/wants something. Her eyes and lashes are ridiculously gorgeous, of course stemming from her parents lovely features. She also has the ability to sit up and oh yeah, has definitely found her feet. π Enjoy a peek from a beautiful day’s shoot.
laura & matt {married}
A few weeks ago, my husband and I ventured up to a few small towns in Minnesota for Laura and Matthew’s wedding! The ceremony took place in Tyler, MN and the reception in Marshall, MN. What a fun day it was! And, we could not have asked for more beautiful weather. Out of the group of friends that were there, this was my third couple who’s wedding I’ve shot. Because of that, I’ve gotten to know and recognize quite a few faces while at these events, making the day even more fun. Laura and Matthew looked absolutely amazing and their happiness was so obvious. The details of day were wonderful and very fitting to their personalities. I’m so glad that they asked me to be a part of their big day! Congratulations Laura and Matthew!! π
vienna rose {newborn}
What an adorable family I met last weekend. A lot of times, when looking through my lens, I can feel the love that families share for one another. And then again, editing these captured moments, I see it even more so. There is such a natural bond shown between this family in particular. Welcomed most recently, baby Vienna already has her parents wrapped around her finger. Born a day before Mother’s Day, it was the best gift and early surprise a mother could ask for. The other little man of the house, Kyren, has taken on the big brother role already and was showing off how much energy and excitement he had! π I can’t wait to capture sweet little Vienna and the whole family throughout her first year!
