Laura & Chris {married}
Have I mentioned lately that I love my job? Being able to photograph people during some of the most significant moments of their lives gets me every time. I was fortunate to be a part of yet another beautiful wedding which took place here in Omaha, NE on October 15. The ceremony was at St. Cecilia Cathedral and the reception at The Scoular Ballroom. The family are long-time friends of my husband’s, so it is always fun to have people you know at the wedding. Laura and Chris were glowing throughout the entire day and are absolutely adorable together! Although I had only just met them during their engagement session last winter, they are the kind of people that you feel like you’ve known forever. I have no doubt that they are going to have a lifetime of happiness together.
Congratulations Laura and Chris!!
The Evans {family}
I was contacted recently by a sweet family who happened to meet some our friends at the hospital while delivering their baby. Their story was kind of similar to our friends in that their newest little boy decided to come early — a whole 3 months early!! After spending months in the hospital after his arrival, the Evans were able to take home their son, Cade, and feel so blessed to have a healthy son, along with their other daughter, Emma. It was such a privilege to photograph this family and learn about their story. Here are some sweet and playful moments from the days shoot. π
Leila {6 months}
Seriously, how much more cute can a little girl get? If she keeps wearing adorable clothing (look at that hat!), I might just take her home with me the next time I see them. π Leila was just over 6 months for this shoot, and she is just as happy as can be. Who can blame her though when she has such loving and fun parents to be around? That, and my amazing peekaboo skills around the camera made her crack a smile — actually, I give her grandma props on that as she was a big help in getting her attention during the shoot. π We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to capture the fun and love within this family.Β I’m privileged to call them my friends and am honored that they have asked me to capture these milestones within their lives.
Sarah & Quinn {married}
Before moving on to Denver, CO, Sarah and Quinn tied the knot on September 24, surrounded by family and friends here in Omaha. It was a gorgeous fall day, so of course we had to get outside for a few fun moments. After that, how could theyΒ (the WHOLE wedding party!)Β then resist going into Dairy Queen for some delicious soft-served cones!? It was a fun memory, and a first, I’d day, time as a photographer to capture some moments inΒ a DQ. π The whole day was full of laugher and love, and I’ve really enjoyed getting to know their families, as, I captured Sarah’s sister’s wedding awhile back too.
Now that Sarah and Quinn have moved on to their next new adventure in Denver, I wish them all the best, and I know that Nebraska and their families here will miss them dearly.
Lauren & Cameron {married}
I am probably going to post way too many photos from this wedding, but it’s hard not to, everything was just so beautiful! Lauren and Cameron were married in lovely St. Augustine, FL, where they both attended college. After having first met on a cruise ship, something close to the beach only made sense for these two lovebirds. π The ceremony took place in the lovely Oldest House Garden and the reception at The White Room. There were many small touches throughout the day that made their wedding very memorable, including a sparkler sendoff to end the night. It was also great to be surrounded by family and friends (since Lauren is Scott’s cousin), and I was so happy that they asked me to be a part of their big day! I mean, how could I possibly turn down a destination wedding with such beautiful surroundings!? π
Congrats Lauren and Cameron! You guys looked amazing and we wish you all the best!
Joanna & Neil {married}
Going back to Duluth, which is where I attended college, was so much fun – and to be photographing a friend’s wedding made the visit all that much more exciting! Joanna and Neil were married onΒ 9.10.11 (love that date!) at a beautiful location called the Greysolon Ballroom. As a photographer, you couldn’t ask for a more beautiful place to shoot – both the interior and the exterior had amazing surroundings to work with. Not to mention, the bride and groom, along with the whole wedding party, looked amazing! I am so happy that they asked me to be a part of their special day and am so excited to share these photographs!
Congratulations Joanna and Neil ~ I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness! π
jack {1 year}
It has been so much fun photographing Jack throughout his whole first year. Each shoot was 3 months apart, and it’s amazing how within that little time, they change dramatically! As mentioned before, he is around my nieces’ age, so since I can’t see her all that often, this has given me a sense of what she may be experiencing with the world around her as well. Everything is new to them, including, indulging in their very own birthday cake! I’ve never seen such a little person eat so much cake! Take a peek at some pre-cake clean photos, and then, he just loves his frosting and doesn’t even care if it has a little grass mixed in with it. I haven’t had a chance to ask, but I hope his tummy was okay after. π Thank you Amanda and Owen for having me be a part of such important steps in your son’s life! Happy Birthday to Jack!
katie & dylan {married}
Katie and Dylan were married on a beautiful, but incredibly hot, afternoon at First United Methodist Church in Omaha. The day was filled with all kinds of emotions, including some tears and much laughter. As many Nebraskan’s are huge Huskers fans, they were definitely true fans that weren’t afraid to show their support. Having lived in NE for a few years now, I think that I’ve decided that I really do need to attend an actual game one of these times to understand what all the craziness/fun is all about! π Along with showing their support of their favorite team, they chose to acknowledge Katie’s parent’s 40th wedding anniversary. It was really a sweet touch, as, after they cut their cake, they had her parent’s cut their own little cake and also displayed photos of when they were younger and now. It was very thoughtful, and I have no doubt that Katie and Dylan will share 40+ years together as well as a happily married couple!
Thank you both for having me be a part of your beautiful day!
Peterson family
It’s always a pleasure to spend time with the Peterson family. Awhile back, I photographed them with their first little girl, Brylee, which you can see here: http://www.leahbphoto.com/blog/2010/08/19/brylee/#more-586Β Now that they have another addition to the family, Brookelynn, it was fun to capture them again at this moment in their lives. They are an adorable family with so much playfulness and love towards each other. And, I still can’t get over Brylee’s beautiful curly hair and now Brookelynn’s big blue eyes!
Emily Kilynn Toland {newborn}
Not long after Jen and Brad’s maternity session — which you can see here: http://www.leahbphoto.com/blog/2011/06/27/jen-brad-maternity/Β Β — Emily Kilynn was welcomed into the world on July 25, 2011. She is an absolute doll and was amazing at her first photo shoot! Her little outfits are just too precious, and no, we did not break out the pinkΒ camouflage one…although, now that I think of it… we probably should have. π Maybe next time. I can’t wait to photograph her throughout her first year and watch her grow into a beautiful little lady. Congrats Jen and Brad, she is a sweetheart!!
Jenna & Matt {married}
Jenna and Matt are the type of people that are not only beautiful on the outside but as well as within. And together as a couple, they are just so sweet and fun to be around. You could tell that they truly have a love for one another and have kept that love going since meeting in confirmation classΒ years ago. I was so happy to shoot their wedding on July 23 in Omaha at the Countryside Community Church. The reception took place at Oak Hills Country Club, and it was there that I got a little teary eyed from the words that came from Matt’s speech. There’s just something about the way a groom talks about his bride, and then seeing the reactions of others around (other teary eyes), that really gets to me. Not only that, but the little looks they would give each other throughout the night were just so sincere. I had a wonderful time capturing both the sweet moments as well as fun side of the whole day.
Congratulations Jenna and Matt! I wish you a lifetime of happiness and love! π
Emma Grace
My niece, Emma Grace, is becoming such a beautiful little lady. Since my sister lives in Oregon, we have only met Emma once since she was born, so of course I took every opportunity to soak up her preciousness and take pictures of her throughout their visit in Omaha. She has a smile that will melt anyone’s heart, and those blue eyes will captivate all those around. I can’t wait to see them all again, and I know the next time we do see her she will probably be walking, talking (more) and hopefully remember who we are! π
Jen & Brad {maternity}
I must say that I really do have some amazingly beautiful friends that make it all too easy to have a successful photo shoot of any kind! π I was so excited to hear the news that our good friends Jen and Brad were expecting their first this summer, and I couldn’t be happier to be photographing this proud moment in their lives. Jen is a glowing mommy-to-be and is so excited to be having a little girl! Brad has definitely warmed up to the idea of having a girl, as I’ve seen his purchase of a pink camouflage newborn outfit that he probably plans to take her hunting in. π They are both going to be amazing parents and I can’t wait to meet their sweet little girl who is due in July!
Kara & Daren {maternity}
I traveled down to Shenandoah, IA to capture this sweet couple, Kara and Daren, who are expecting their first baby girl at the end of August. They are beyond excited to bring this new little lady into the world, and Daren is especially excited to have her become an Iowa Hawkeyes fan. π I had a wonderful time getting to know this couple better and thank them for inviting me into theirΒ home during this special time in their lives. I’m so happy for them and can already tell that they are going to be amazing parents!
Jack {9 months}
I don’t think I can get enough of this little guy. This is my 4th time photographing him, and he seems to get more and more cute every time! I even think I am starting to recognize his patterns during a photo shoot. He starts out really bubbly and smiley, and then he will definitely let you know when he’s all done — you can even see it in his eyes that he gets sleepy. It probably didn’t help that it was in the 90’s with high humidity! We stayed out just long enough to get some adorable shots at this stage in his life. As I mentioned to Amanda and Owen, it’s nice to be seeing their child go through these stages being that Jack is very close to my niece’s age. And since I have only seen my niece once so far **tear ** π — and yes, that’s a hint Laura and Jeremy to move closer ;)… I’m in a way able to see how quickly they change. I’m excited to see the Treibers once again when Jack turns 1 year!
Leo and Parker finally home {newborn}
I recently photographed our friend’s newborn twin boys, Leo and Parker, while at the hospital. You can see that shoot here:
http://leahbphoto.com/blog/2011/04/27/welcome-leo-and-parker/
Weeks later, we were finally able to have another shoot in the comfort of their own home. They are now around 5 and 6 lbs and growing more healthy every day. Surprisingly, being how small they still are, they were trying so hard to stay awake and see what was going on! In the moments that they were drifting off to sleep, I think we captured some sweetness that only babies seem to have. I’m really looking forward to capturing photos of these two throughout their first year!
kim & lee {married}
As I sit here writing this blog, a storm is rolling in with expected 60 mph winds and hail. Although I love a good storm every once in awhile, I feel thankful for the most perfect weather we had last weekend for Kim and Lee’s wedding day! It was a beautiful day overall, and I am so fortunate to have been a part of it. The wedding took place 2 hours North of Omaha, in a little town called Sioux Center. It was the place that Kim grew up, so it had much meaning to her. My husband was kind enough to come along on this trip, and I was happy he was there to help. π Kim and Lee looked absolutely stunning, and Kim was just glowing the whole day. They are such an easy-going couple whom I’ve really enjoyed getting to know. At one point in the day, Lee told me, “you’re the boss, just tell us where you want us!” π I made sure to get some creative, fun and romantic shots so that they can look back at it all for years to come. They definitely put a lot of thought into the details of their big day. One very creative and cute idea included the game Plinko (from The Price is Right) — where they dropped a chip onto a couple’s name and they had to kiss. There were also some beautiful moments shared between Lee’s daughter and both Kim and Lee which you’ll see below. They are an absolutely adorable family and I hope to keep in touch!
Thank you to Kim, Lee and their friends and family for welcoming my husband and I into your lives to share such a beautiful day!
**Be sure to check out even more photos from the day on my facebook page soon!
{welcome leo and parker}
I am often amazed by what the human body, along with help from the medical world, is capable of. Our friends, Mark and Ally, were expecting their baby twin boys, Leo and Parker, in due time, but to their surprise, the boys decided to make their appearance early — a whole 2 months early! A few friends and I saw Ally the night before it all happened, and we would have never known she’d be delivering her boys the next day! Although they weighed in at a mere 2.14 and 2.6 lbs, they are healthy little ones on their way to almost going home. I was happy to take a few photos in the hospital, since this was their first “home” – but I know Mark and Ally are anxiously awaiting the day that they can take them (home). I am excited to capture a few more moments of these adorable little individuals at home and to see what I can do creatively since I have not yet photographed twins! We are so happy for them all and continue to pray for healthy days ahead. π
{trevden- 6 months}
I photographed Trevden Cole as a newborn about 6 months ago. I am continually amazed by how fast kids change! Well yeah… that’s what they do right, they grow… π Not having any myself yet, I guess I’m just not able to see the continuous developments that they go through from day to day, so it’s always a surprise that my clients (babies;) look and act like a completely different person when I see them next! This little guy continues to get more adorable the older he gets. He is now sitting up, teething, has lighter hair, grabs my hair π and is at that point where he is so curious at the world around him. I can’t wait to see him again when he turns one year! Thank you Amber and Curt for coming to our home for the shoot!
{welcome dane}
Arica and Ryan are one of those couples whom, when you first meet, you feel like you’ve known forever. We had so much fun capturing some precious and some more intimate moments with their new little addition, Dane, who was just born in February. He is an absolute cutie and did amazing with his first photo shoot. π I am excited to share just a handful of images that show the love within this family.
{welcome Leila Jade}
Not too long ago, I captured my good friends, Jamee and Dusty, just before they were expecting their first precious little girl, Leila Jade.
(See shoot here) http://leahbphoto.com/blog/2011/01/09/loving-leila/
Now that Leila has arrived, I was so happy to capture her within the first few weeks, the time when they seem so curious at this new world all around them. Leila was awake for the majority of our shoot, but we still managed to get some sweet moments just as she dozed off. I absolutely love all the little outfits that they had picked out for her, and this first one in particular is one of Jamee’s favorite since she’s a Raiders fan. Sorry Dusty… π I can’t wait to see Leila grow up, and I’m so excited that they’re having me take photos of her over the first year! I have no doubt she is going to blossom into an amazing person, just as her parents are.
{Jack 6 months}
I’m so glad that Amanda and Owen decided to do a 1st year package with me, as I get to see this little cutie grow up over the year! Jack is already 6 months old, and again, I am reminded of how fast time goes. When they first arrived, little Jack was sound asleep and gave me the biggest smile as he woke up! You’ll see some wide eyes and smiles in the very beginning, and then as the shoot went on, you can see in his eyes that he was definitely tuckered out and eventually fell right back asleep. So cute. π
Hayden {1 year}
As recently mentioned on my facebook page, I had a shoot this last weekend with one of my very first clients. Little Hayden is now all grown up and turning 1 years old next week! Seeing him now standing on his own, it makes me realize how fast time goes, as it seems like just yesterday that we captured him when he could barely lift his head. His hair is still so adorable I can’t even stand it! Emily and Tony, you better watch out, I can tell this little guy is going to catch all the ladies’ attention later in life. π Thank you for coming to our home for the shoot! I have really enjoyed getting to know your family this last year.
{reminiscing}
As I sit here wearing my flannel pj’s, super thick slipper socks and have a blanket wrapped around me (no, not a Snuggie), I look out the window at the falling snow. Knowing that it’s only 8 degrees outside, I often wonder what the heck I’m doing still living in the Midwest! Although I do love the seasons, during mid-winter I get pretty antsy and want to go somewhere tropical and HOT. I feel blessed (and somewhat spoiled π that my parents have lived in Hawaii for the last seven years, and so I’ve milked that for all that it’s worth by going to visit them — after all, they unfortunately won’t be there forever! (Don’t worry mom and dad, we’ll still visit you even when the time comes that you don’t have a beach in your backyard… π Each visit has been an amazing experience, and of course I’ve captured those experiences and the beauty of Hawaii in my millions of photographs! I share with you just a few, as this winter, I will just have to dream about lying on the Hawaiian beaches since instead we plan to stay frozen and go skiing in Colorado! π
Where are you dreaming of (or actually) going this winter?
