{loving leila}
Since moving to Omaha, I’ve met some amazing people, some who have become very close friends. We’ve always joked about who would be “the first” in our little group of friends, and it was last Summer that we found out that our friends Jamee and Dusty were expecting! We couldn’t be more thrilled for these two who are due in just a little more than a month, and you can tell that they already have so much love for their little one, Leila. I was happy to photograph such a proud time in their lives so that they can look back it it for years to come. Jamee is already a glowing soon-to-be momma, and she looks absolutely incredible.Β During the whole shoot, we could see Leila kicking and moving around, to the point that it was a challenge balancing the little blocks that you’ll see below! I am so excited to meet her, and it will be fun to see who is next!! π
{baby, it’s cold outside}
Yesterday, I took engagement photos of Laura and Chris, who live in Las Vegas, and were only in Omaha for a short time over the holidays. Of course the one day we had planned ended up being 40 degrees COLDER than the day before, with snow/sleet/messiness — and did I mention it being cold? π After taking a few indoors, they were troopers and went outside, and we were able to get some amazing shots with what ended up to be some beautiful lighting. I am so happy for this sweet couple and am looking forward to their wedding in October!
{full of excitement}
I am truly a sap for babies…especially ones as adorable as the little girl, Isabelle, from yesterdays shoot. I called her a photographer’s dream baby, becauseΒ she was so incredibly happy and smiling the whole time, and how about those amazing big blue eyes? Wow. It was too easy to get some great shots of this little one, who is just 6 months old.Β Thank you to the Simpson family for coming to our home for the shoot! Enjoy the first Christmas with your beautiful little girl. π
{holiday bliss}
It was such a pleasure to photograph Amy and Marty Wolff, who met on the show TheΒ Biggest Loser in 2007. Scott’s cousin introduced us to Amy, and I thought the story of how they met was so cute! They welcomed their first son, Blaine, about 16 months ago, and so I was thrilled when they asked me to take some photos of their family for the holidays. We met up at the Durham museum, and to our surprise, there was all sorts of Christmas activities going on, so the place was packed! Luckily, we found our own little places throughout to capture some fun-filled family moments. Here’s a peek at this adorable family. π
{jack’s first christmas}
Having already taken this cutie’s newborn photos, I’m so excited to now have the chance to capture him throughout his whole first year! Little Jack is 3 months now and he’s all ready for his first Christmas experience. Here’s a sneak peek at some of his adorableness. π Thank you, Amanda and Owen, for once again having me into your beautiful home!
{giving thanks}
I had a chance to photograph this sweet family on Thanksgiving weekend, on yet another chilly and windy day. They were troopers though and managed to get the little ones to stick it out long enough to capture some beautiful photos. It’s always fun to come up with incentives for kids to behave, and so it was brought up that each would receive a (just one I guess) π Skittle if they smiled and looked at the camera. I also got a laugh at a barbie doll that was dangling over my head to get their attention. Anything that works right!? Thank you, Katie, for asking me to take pictures of your beautiful family!
{a time to celebrate}
Until last night, I’ve never really been to an engagement party, or, at least one that was so well-planned withΒ tons of cute details. My friend, Katie, recently got engaged to the brother, Jared, of one of my other good friends, Mandy, whose wedding was one of the first that I shot solely. (Did you follow all of that!?) π I met Katie for the first time at Mandy’s bachelorette party, and it was there that we all met Jared, who happened to just “crash” the girls’ night out. πΒ Katie and Jared hit it off right away and have been dating ever since. They were recently engaged in Las Vegas, which brings us to last night — a fun-filled celebration surrounded by family and friends. It was in a way a send-off to Jared as well, who will be stationed in Afghanistan for about a year. I hope the time goes by quickly for these two so that they can begin their new lives together as a married couple! Thanks Katie and Jared for asking me to capture this special time in your lives!
{simply married}
I used the word simple with this couple and their engagement photos too, because, to me, they portray a sort of simple, natural and easy love towards one another and their family. I think they were one of the most relaxed bride and groom I have ever seen, which makes it easy to just capture what the day is all about – marrying the person you’re wanting to be with the rest of your life, surrounded by the people that love and support you. Jessica and Reed’s day was just that, and I was so happy to be a part of it all!
{trevden cole}
First off, what a fun and unique name! Little Trevden Cole was born just a few weeks ago, and I was proud to once again be a part of capturing those precious and new moments of a parent’s first child. It’s always interesting to see how animals react to the newest member of the family, and what I witnessed from their two cats was a lot of curiosity and what seemed like protection. They wanted to be in the photos just as much, so I gave them the spotlight for just a few shots. What more can I say than, here’s a peek at another adorable baby who was very much a pro at his first photo shoot! π
{vanessa}
Seriously, blond hair, blue eyes, how much more cute can a kid get!? I had such a fun time with this family on what may have been one of the last weekends we see leaves on our trees here! With the crazy wind we’ve been having, I’m glad I was able to get some shots with at least some color in the background. : ) Little Vanessa was so much fun to watch as she explored the world around her. Enjoy a few from the day!
{baby jackson + five}
I was so happy when Amanda, whose newborn son I last photographed, contacted me once again for some family photos! It was a gorgeous fall morning, so it was too easy to capture some great moments with this family. It was fun to once again photograph little baby Jack, all while watching how much his parents, grandparents and uncle adored him. I know how it is, when a baby is around, all attention usually ends up on them! π
{fall romance}
I could not have asked for a more perfect Fall day, with amazing colors and beautiful light, to capture the romance shared between this couple. I’m so excited to share these because I think both Kim and Lee look absolutely amazing, and I was reminded throughout the day why it is that I love doing this so much.Β I had such a fun time and can’t wait until their wedding next Spring!
{Jackson Robert}
This little cutie, named Jackson Robert, was born just over a week ago on September 2. I can tell that Amanda and Owen are going to have so much fun experiencing all the ” firsts” with their new baby boy. After doing a few newborn sessions now , I’m really starting to wonder how some of those baby photographers keep their little ones asleep while photographing them! Lately, or I should say with most of my baby shoots, including my sisters, the babies have been wide awake taking in everything around them (including the big black lens in their face!). π Not that that’s not adorable or anything, as I would prefer to have at least some with their eyes open, but I’m also anxious to try some of the creative, more posed shots. Patience is definitely key, and I’ll just have to get a few pointers on what it takes to keeps those little ones sound asleep. π Enjoy a few precious moments from this adorable family.
{Emma Grace}
On one of my previous posts, I announced the arrival of my new baby niece, Emma Grace, who was born on August 15th. Scott and I finally got to meet the little sweetie pie last weekend when we made a trip out to Oregon to visit my sister and her husband. It was so much fun to experience how much joy a little one can bring to everyone around. The smallest expressions brought a smile to my face every time, and it was the best feeling having her snuggle up with you and fall asleep in your arms. Emma definitely loves being right up close to people at all times, so I didn’t get to do all the “creative” shots I wanted to try, but I still captured her sweetness as she experienced the world around her. Welcome Emma Grace! I can’t wait to see her grow up into a beautiful little girl over the years.
{simply love}
You know it’s a small world when you move half way across the country and discover that people you went to high school with, and whom you haven’t seen in forever, live in that same town too! I was happy to get back in touch with Sarah and was even happier that she liked my work enough to refer her sister, Jessica, to me. Jessica is engaged to Reed, and with their wedding quickly approaching, we decided it was time to capture some moments of love before this happy couple ties the knot this fall!
{Brylee}
I must be a magnet for kids with cute hair. Yesterday, I enjoyed spending some time with our friends, Taryn, CJ and their beautiful little girl, Brylee, who has the best curly hair! She also has a ton of energy, so I was able to get some great shots of her doing what kids do best ~Β just play! Taryn and CJ are expecting baby number two, so I am very excited for them and look forward to possibly capturing some more moments of the whole fam prior to baby being born. π

** Photo taken by Jeremy DeVries ** (my brother-in-law)
I don’t have any more photos to go along with this post (yet), but I just wanted to announce that I am a proud aunt to my new niece, Emma Grace! Emma was born on our 1 year wedding anniversary (August 15th), so we are very excited to share the day! She is such a cutie pie, and I can’t wait to meet her on September 3rd when my husband and I go visit my sister and her husband in Oregon. It will be then that I’m sure I’ll go camera crazy — it’s a baby! π — and will share some photos after we return. Congratulations Laura and Jeremy!! You have been blessed with a beautiful little lady! xoxo
{second shooting II}
This summer, I had the chance to shoot a wedding with another amazing photographer, Julie Branyan (www.juliebranyan.com). Julie is relocating to Phoenix, AZ at the end of this month, so I’m really going to miss her as has has become a good friend and inspiration! Hoping to keep in touch and watch her photography evolve as she continues to pursue her dream. Here are just a few a few shots from the beautiful couple on their big day!
{second shooting}
Over the last year, I have been so fortunate to work some amazing photographers from Iconic Photography as a second shooter. I feel that I’ve definitely grown as a photographer and have found a love for shooting weddings. Here are just a few from some weddings in Omaha.
……………….
Keelie & Mike
{happily ever after}
Yesterday, Mike & Mandy’s wedding day finally arrived! I was thrilled to be a part of this amazing couple’s beautiful day full of love, laughter and all things sweet. Just watching these two, you can truly feel the love that they share for one another and for all of their friends and family too. Here is a sneak peek of a few of my favorite photos from the day!
{family fun}
Yesterday I had a wonderful time getting to know the Harrell family. Surprisingly, with the non-stop storms we’d been having all day, the clouds broke up just long enough to cast a beautiful light, and I was able to capture some moments ofΒ this amazing family. I had a lot of fun shooting several generations, and we made sure to take advantage of it being Father’s Day. Thanks for making it a great first family shoot! π Here are a few photos from the day.
{caleb b}
This evening I photographed Caleb, who is now 6 months old. He is my adorable little nephew and also the first newborn I’ve ever photographed! (see very first blog). Capturing him now at 6 months makes me realize how fast the time goes and how these little ones are no longer, well, little! Soon enough he’ll be walkin’ and talkin’! I’m so excited to see what his personality becomes over the years. One thing is for sure… he better get used to having a camera around! π Here’s a sneak peek from today’s shoot.
{baby hayden }
Today I had the pleasure of photographing one of my favorite subjects ~ babies! Happy 3 months to baby Hayden who is quite the cutie with adorable hair! I always enjoy how the faces of little ones can go from curiosity to pure joy in an instant, so you never know what you’re going to capture – you just know that no matter what, it’s always going to be precious- it’s a baby! π This little guy had so many great expressions, I had too much fun capturing them all. Here’s a peek at some moments from today.
{red barn beauty}
Last Saturday, I photographed Joyce and Jeff’s wedding in a unique location — Bennington’s Big Red Barn. It is literally that, a huge red barn that has been converted into a beautiful wedding hall. The characteristics of it really seemed to fit the personalities of Joyce and Jeff. They both looked truly amazing, so I just wanted to post a few sneak peek photos from the day! Congratulations J & J! I had a wonderful time.Β π
