I was so happy to capture Nikki and her beautiful family most recently, after many, many times of postponing for various reasons of life happenings, it finally worked out, and we had a beautiful fall day for it. The timing of it, though, happened to be just after the passing of her dear brother. A loss that I can only imagine as being one of the hardest things she’s had to face. Even with that happening, I am so thankful she was still wanting to go through with a shoot, because, as she said, now more than ever, it’s soo important to capture these moments with your family, as, you just never know…
They are one of the most photogenic families, and you can just feel the love that they have for one another. We took the photos at Memorial Park, which is most fitting to honor her brother. Though I never met him, if he’s anything like Nikki, I know he was just as sweet, and so, so proud of this family that she has built.
Nikki said something that stood out to me. Since losing her brother is still so raw, she is trying to do “normal things,” but constantly has him on the mind. I wanted to try and create an image that spoke to that, so the very last shot was of Nikki frozen in the shot, and everyone else moving around her. In due time, I know that “normal” will soon get easier, and it is always okay to miss those we’ve lost, while still living and enjoying the life we have here on earth. So many prayers still for their entire family!
morgan {family}
I’ve been capturing the Morgan family for a few years now, and I don’t know why it always surprises me when the kids keep getting taller. I mean, kiddos DO grow! Though I think we want to secretly keep them little forever. 😉 Both were as photogenic as ever, and still enjoy some snuggles from their parents. It was a gorgeous day in Elmwood park, with even a little bit of color left! Here’s a peek at their fall family shoot.
maggie & ryan {maternity} // omaha maternity photographer
How cute are these two as they anticipate the arrival of their little one!? Maggie is all baby and just glowing. And we had to of course include their first “baby” (their dog, Lena) who is excited to become a big sister! I really do feel animals know when a change is coming…
Here’s a peek at our gorgeous fall shoot, first starting in their home. **note the CUTE rocker that Maggie is on. It is the same one I nursed my 1st daughter in for a year, so it is so fun seeing it now in the room where she will be spending a lot of time!!
rydlee {9 months} // omaha child photographer
How lucky am I that this is the 4th time I’ve captured sweet Rydlee, and she’s not even one!! 😉 I love that her parents see the importance of capturing each milestone over the year, as they change SO much. She is a little cutie who lets her big brother give her all kinds of squishy hugs. Here’s a peek at her 9 month session!
leila + sloane {siblings}
Leila + Sloane, it has been so much fun watching them grow! Still feels like just yesterday that I took their newborn photos. Even though poor Sloane wasn’t feeling the best, we got a few smiles out of her still — just leave it to peek-a-boo, puddle stomping and dancing to their favorite songs! Here’s a peek at their shoot on a gorgeous fall day.
treiber {family} // omaha family photographer
It has been so much fun photographing this sweet family over the last 7 years! Even though the kiddos keep growing and getting taller, Amanda and Owen haven’t changed a bit! All adorable. Could not have asked for better weather for our time in the park! Here’s a peek. 🙂
cordle {family} // omaha family photographer
Last week, I met a beautiful family of 6! Having that many people in the group, it’s sometimes hard to get them all to look (and listen), but, since the kiddos were older, it was seriously a breeze! They were all SO well-behaved and the littlest absolutely lit up when I started clicking my shutter. He thought it was the most hilarious thing in the world, and it got my cracking up behind the lense too! Thank goodness that worked, because, I forgot my squeaky toy. 😉 I enjoyed getting to know this sweet family. Here’s a peek at their fall session!
edie {3 years}
Vala’s to a kid is basically like being in a candy store — such excitement is seen in the eyes of all those that venture through it. Sweet little Edie just turned 3, so what better way to celebrate than going to one of her favorite places? It was fun finding little corners and fun backgrounds to capture this little beauty with her fam!
fall {extended} family
It does not feel like that long ago that I took Caitlin and Adam’s engagement and wedding photos (though, it was 4 years!) They recently had two adorable b/g twin babies — and oh my are they precious!! We captured some of their cuties along with their whole extended family. So glad the rain held out again so that we could capture some great moments of them all together. Here’s a peek!
tapprich {family} // omaha family photographer
What are the chances that you’d get rained out (almost) twice for family photos!? Though mother nature did not play in our favor last time, this time, the rain stopped enough for us to keep our session. It was just a bit soggy, humid and buggy, but, we still managed to have some fun! 😉 This family could not be any sweeter! So glad we met at swimming lessons so I could have a chance to capture their love!
petersen {family}
For this session, I loved going back to the same park location that I took our friend’s engagement photos at in 2012. This time around though, they had their adorable little addition to the family, MJ. They were surrounded by beautiful lighting and colors, and though it is still hot out, we will just pretend that it was fall-like weather with our cozy clothing. 😉 I adore this little family and the smiles I got from Mr MJ after placing a stuffed animal on my head … over and over….. and over again!
ramey {family}
Though this HOT (in the 90’s) weather lately isn’t feeling very fall-like, I’m loving the family shoots still dressed in cozy warm sweaters — very fall ready. 😉 C’mon cooler weather! These two little ladies definitely kept me on my toes in getting some shots, as they have soo much energy and just wanted to run! We got a few sweet snuggles though, and in the end, the got to do what they love, play at the playground! Here’s a peek at their fun, family shoot!
asher {6 months}
Oh Asher, you are as cute as a button, just like your big sis!
6 months and quite the little personality already, this little man didn’t give me all the smiles, but, was definitely curious about the camera. Those big eyes just captivate you! He is such a chill, little dude who doesn’t seem to mind his big sis giving him lots of smooches, hugs and cuddles. It’s always fun watching siblings interact.
Here’s a session full of lots of cuteness and love!
joey {1 year} // omaha child photography
It was a pleasure meeting up with the Johnson family last week and capturing their sweet little boy who is about to turn ONE! He is such a cutie, with blonde hair and blue eyes (a heart-breaker one day I presume) 😉 Though a little intimidated by the camera at first, he warmed up eventually, and I would have never believed his parents that he smiled when someone fake coughed, until I tried it towards the end. What a cute reaction I got! Here’s a peek at Joey’s first birthday photos filled with balloons, cute hats, his side-kicks (bear and puppy friends) and most of all, love. 🙂
lizzie {one year}
Lizzie is almost one year, so I was happy to take photos of this adorable girl and her sweet parents! Lizzie has the most gorgeous big blue eyes, and she loves to explore the world around her. I think her favorite part was the cake smash — she did not hesitate to dig right in…..and keep digging, until she tasted what she wanted of the cute and delicious looking cake made by her mama. 😉 Here’s a peek at some cuteness! Happy almost 1st birthday, Lizzie!
schmidt {family}
Initially, this family wanted to take Spring photos, but after needing to reschedule multiple times — due to medical reasons — we finally got around to taking them in the Fall! So glad it worked out that way because wow did we have a perfect fall day, and I have to say that their beautiful red hair looks so awesome against the changing leaf colors. These kiddos sure know how to make me work, too! I really wish I had their energy. 😉 Such a sweet and fun family to work with. Here’s a peek from their day!
Happy birthday to Eliza, too, who just turned 8 today!
morgan {family}
This Fall weather could seriously not be any more perfect. Besides a little wind — which kicked the allergies into full gear 🙁 — it was a beautiful day to hang out with the Morgan family. Like last time, Josh loved being in front of the camera and Elizabeth loved to explore. It’s the little things — like singing their favorite song or playing peek-a-boo that helps with certain poses. But, it’s the natural moments that I love to capture most — who doesn’t love piggy-back riding and picking leaves off the trees from your parents shoulders, or “chasing” a hawk flying in the sky? 😉 Here’s a peek at our little adventure at Lake Zorinsky!
lindsey & tyler {engaged}
I love doing engagement sessions. There’s something so sweet about watching how a couple reacts when you ask how they first met, or just seeing the little things that go on between the two when you’re looking through the lens. Lindsey and Tyler were so much fun to hang out with! They are one of those couples whom, upon first meeting them, feels like you’ve known forever. So nice, adorable together, and up for trying some fun poses. Since Tyler is a baseball coach down in KC for the summers, and baseball plays an important role in their relationship, we decided to incorporate it into the shoot. Taking place near a small town field, it was a perfect place for them to just be themselves and have fun. 🙂 Here’s a peek at their gorgeous fall engagement session!
schlickbernd {family}
I always look forward to shoots with the Schlickbernd’s! It is the best when clients become friends as it doesn’t seem like work at all to me. 🙂 Their two beautiful girls are growing up so fast and are just full of energy. Although it’s sometimes hard to keep toddlers in place for certain shots, the moments captured, either posed or candid, are just lovely. And of course, just letting kids be kids is the best way to go — letting them run, chase bubbles, take a snack break when needed — is a sure way to keep those smiles coming. 😉 We had some gorgeous fall colors and light to work with — I am loving the yellow trees! Here’s a peek at this cute family having some fun in the park!
beran {family}
Last week, I ventured out to Nichole and Brock’s house on the Elkhorn River. When I approached their property, I was excited to see the beautiful, rustic, country surroundings — my favorite type of scene to work in. 😉 That, and working with a sweet family made it an all-around fun session. They are such natural parents who absolutely adore their almost one year old, Bryer. I could not have asked for more smiles from that little man — such a cutie and so happy! He loved being in front of the camera. The only time I saw him making a funny face was when his parents were kissing! Not sure if it was a coincidence, but he looks so confused — it was adorable. Here’s a peek at their fun family session!
**As a side note: they are the owners of Tubing and Adventures — check them out sometime, and plan your next summer extravaganza! 😉
fall {family} fun
I love fall shoots! The gorgeous gold background of trees lit by the sun could not have been a more perfect compliment to this family’s clothing color scheme of blues. Such a lovely and fun group I worked with this last weekend! Despite it being pretty chilly out, they still looked so warm and inviting, and so natural in front of the camera — every one of them. All with bright blue eyes and big beautiful smiles, they made my job very easy. 😉 Thank you, Carmen, for inviting me to photograph your gorgeous family!
caroline {6 months}
Ohhh sweet Caroline…oh oh oh. Seriously, what a cutie, and look at those big brown eyes that you could just melt into. 6 months old is such a fun age. Not only are they curious about everything around them, but, you can still doll them up in whatever you’d like (such as adorable headbands) and they can’t quite rip them off yet if they disapprove. 😉 Hanging out with pumpkins, her older brother, and, snuggling up with her family in the cold is what this shoot consisted of. A crisp fall day, but so much warmth coming from this family. Love them! I am already anticipating Caroline’s 9 month photos!
finney {family}
For the longest time, a vacant lot sat across the street from us. When a house finally was built, we were so anxious as to who our new neighbors would be. So glad that it was the Finney’s! Such a sweet, fun and beautiful family. Before we really talked to them, I remember seeing two little boys, always exploring, and a cute little girl running around in her tutu outside. I thought that once we had kids, it would be fun for them to hang out. Now our girls love hanging out, and, my daughter’s wardrobe is primarily made up of adddorrable outfits from their sweet little girl. SO thankful for their generosity, good talks (with wine, right Amy!?) and willingness to always help out. Hope that they stay in the ‘hood for a long time. 🙂
clayton {senior} elkhorn, ne
Nebraska seems to be a bit confused that it’s supposed to be fall! A few days ago, I met up with Clayton for his senior photos. I was hoping we’d be shooting on a nice, cool fall day, but nope, it decided that it needed to be in the 80’s! Thankfully Clayton didn’t mind, and I was happy with the beautiful lighting. Clayton rocked his session and I had fun scoping out cool spots with him and his mom and getting to know them both. I hope your senior year is amazing, Clayton! Best luck to you in all your future endeavors!
